To Achieve Victory.....Follow this Platform!!!

My best friend and I have watched the landscape of this great Country change drastically in our lifetimes. We seem more divided than ever before. And that causes us great pain! Look at those we have chosen as leaders, and again your heart should break for some of them do not deserve the office which they hold. We yearn for leaders that do not seek personal gratification of the office they hold, leaders who do not seek glory, but rather those who seek to do that which is right, honest, and honorable. Those who seek to do the will of those who send them. I have been under the impression that those were the kind of people who ran for political office, and some are, though it appears that very few of them actually seek office for these reasons. I fall to my knees and pray that this changes!

And so I have pondered and sought the council of my most trusted friend, we wish to see the best men and women this country has, to run for political office, so that our Country continues to be the greatest Hope of the world. That Shining City on the Hill as Winthrop and Reagan called it. So what follows is a platform or more rightly stated a movement that would, if adopted set the world of politics on it’s ear.
The greatest part of this platform is it transcends party affiliation and truly unites us on principles. I hope you enjoy and if you do, please comment and let me know.

The Four Points for Victory

1. Transparency— Say what you mean and mean what you say. When a vote is cast, construct a website dedicated to the description of the legislation that is being considered, how you voted on the legislation, and why. And NEVER vote “PRESENT”, unless of course there are circumstances beyond your control, and that doesn’t mean a speaking engagement. And send out a monthly or quarterly newsletter (nothing fancy, so that the expense to the taxpayer is at it's absolute minimum) letting your constituency know what you are doing. Hold town hall meetings to obtain feedback from those who elected you. In short be beholden to no one other than those who elected you!

2. Uphold the Constitution—allow this document to guide you and be rooted in this founding document. Never allow the thoughts of men today to cause you to stray from the Founder's guide. ( i. e. gun control, freedom of speech, freedom of religion)

3. Principled Leadership— Be a leader of CONSERVATIVE principles, regardless of which party decides to follow those principles. Know what you believe in and stand up for what you believe. Also meaning you are going to take each issue in a conservative light and not just vote down party lines for the sake of voting party lines. (i.e., a republican sponsoring a bill that expands entitlement programs....). If you change your position because you believe it to be politically expedient then you probably shouldn't be running for political office.

4. Self-imposed term limit—As revolutionary as it sounds, this is the way it was intended. When you announce your candidacy inform your constituents that you will seek office for no more than two terms if you are lucky enough to earn their votes for that long. If at the end of two terms, public opinion is such that your constituents wish you to seek another term then so be it. However at the end of six years you are done. Have your resignation letter written when your first campaign begins, so that people know you are serious. This does not exclude you from seeking another office at some point, or acting as an advisor for someone. And you will also actively support a person who is willing to carry the torch forward on the same platform you began.

What a world we would have if the power hungry politicians operated by guidelines such as these. If only….
